2023 GRANT RECIPIENTS
Innovative programs are a part of the instructional experience for Tri-Creek students. In addition to the projects below, the Foundation provides annual funding for fifth grade study trips to the Challenger Learning Center, elementary and middle school robotics teams, Lowell Middle School and Lowell High School mentor programs, eighth grade class trip, Lowell High School dual credit/AP and workplace certification scholarships, EV Go Kart competition, and Camp Invention.
Gifts to TCEF in any amount are appreciated and can be made in the donor’s name or in the name of a loved one. Since the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, all donations are qualified to be tax deductible. The following Tri-Creek staff members received funding for creative programs and educational activities.

Lowell High School teachers Darryl Hebble, Ray Goss, and Ken Roach ($1,350.00)
“SkillsUSA Indiana State Leadership & Skills Conference” ~Funding will pay registration fees for 15 students to attend and compete at the state level of the SkillsUSA Leadership Conference. Students will compete in activities that test their leadership skills as well as skills learned in Career and Technical classes.

Lowell High School teacher Randal Bogathy and Tri-Creek Safety Director Stacey Heams ($2,239.00)
“Student DUI Safety Initiative” ~The project will provide hands on demonstrations about the dangers of using drugs and alcohol and then driving. Grant funds will purchase drunk goggles and pedal cars for two events for students.

Lowell High teacher Debera Hinchy ($3,700.00)
“Lowell High School Coffee Shop” ~Students will launch, run, grow, and manage an entrepreneurial school business enterprise. Grant funding will purchase equipment – coffee pots, espresso machine, ice machine, blenders, and register – to be used in a student run coffee shop.

Lowell Middle School teacher Eric Stoelb ($750.00)
“LMS News” ~Funding will be used to purchase equipment to create, run, and sustain a school wide video news program. Students will find and research news stories, write scripts and report on stories, and edit and produce video and audio.

Lowell Middle School teacher Jeremy Shuler ($1,184.00)
“Arcade Cabinet Build for Student Programming” ~Students will design, build, and program an arcade cabinet, enabling student to share and play each others’ games, inspire students to program better games, and function as a reward/incentive

Oak Hill Elementary teachers Melissa Campbell, Julie Alessia, Rachid Kharchaf ($1,600.00)
“Oak Hill Garden Club” ~ Grant funding will be used to purchase material, supplies, and equipment to teach gardening skills and begin a garden. Students will plan and maintain a garden with native plants, and a small greenhouse will be installed.

Oak Hill Elementary teacher Sue Kramer ($86.00)
"Kiddolingo" ~ This device will allow speech-language students to choose vocabulary cards into a machine and then receive a verbal output to teach and encourage verbal skills.

Three Creeks Elementary teacher Michelle Hubbard ($420.00)
“Qball: Engaging Student Voices” ~A Qball throwable microphone and Bluetooth speaker will increase student engagement, build confidence, and improve presentation skills.

Lake Prairie Elementary teachers Mia Kouros, Nicole Wedel, and Elyssa Jankowski ($600.00)
“Bringing Books to Life” ~TCEF grant funding will be used to purchase library books and one-year Novel Effects app subscriptions for second grade classes. The interactive app provides music and sound effects as students read aloud, engaging students and improving fluency.

Lake Prairie Elementary teachers Nicole Wedel, Mia Kouros, and Elyssa Jankowski ($1,209.00)
Digging into Science of Reading with Decodable Readers” ~Hello Literacy Decodable Fiction Books will be used in small groups to introduce and reinforce phonics skills. Students will develop oral language and fluency.

Lake Prairie Elementary teachers Kerri Coapstick, Dawn Johannsen, and Jen Rose ($974.00)
“Building a Team Beyond Classroom Boundaries” ~TCEF grant funding will be used to pay registration fees for Challenge Course study trips for Lake Prairie fifth grade classes. Students will develop skills to increase confidence, improve morale, build trust, resolve conflicts, and develop a strong teamwork ethic.
